SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd is wholly-owned by the Council and the company has an independent Board of directors.

The Board

The five-member SunCentral Maroochydore Board has a wealth of experience across a range of industries and professional skill-sets including governance, corporate management, property and infrastructure development, commercial investment markets and stakeholder management.

The Board’s objectives are to:

  • Promote, facilitate, carry out and control the development, disposal and management of land and other property within the Maroochydore City Centre Priority Development Area (PDA);
  • Achieve an appropriate balance between commercial and non-commercial functions and outcomes;
  • Ensure the new CBD becomes a high density city centre and identifiable city heart for the wider Sunshine Coast;
  • Accommodate public facilities and entertainment that benefit the general community; and
  • Achieve excellence and innovation in the management of integrated private/public open space and park areas.

Directors

Dr Douglas McTaggart

Bec (Hons), MA, PhD, DUniv, FAICD, SF Fin.
Chairman

Dr McTaggart is currently a Director of Suncorp Group Limited and Spark Infrastructure, and a member of the Prime Minister's Expert Advisory Panel on the Reform of the Federation, the AICD State Council and the ANU Council.
He recently retired as Chairman of the Queensland Public Service Commission. Dr McTaggart served for 14 years as Chief Executive of Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), a leading institutional investment manager with over $70 billion in funds under management for a broad range of private and public sector clients.
Dr McTaggart was also formerly Professor of Economics and Associate Dean at Bond University, and Under Treasurer of Queensland Treasury. He is a highly experienced Chairman and well respected in the financial, commercial and investment banking sectors. 
Appointed in early 2015, Dr McTaggart brings to the role a wealth of experience in corporate leadership, commercial development, infrastructure financing and investment and a comprehensive understanding of the importance of working closely with major stakeholders to deliver a project of this scale and significance.

Michael Kerry

BA (Hons), MCD

Mr Kerry has over 40 years' experience in urban planning, infrastructure planning, procurement and delivery, and the implementation of major integrated development projects throughout Australia.
This includes responsibility for all urban planning and infrastructure for the City of Brisbane for 12 years and serving on numerous property and infrastructure development boards including the South Bank Corporation, the Urban Land Development Authority, Springfield Land Corporation and the Brisbane City Enterprise Board. 
Mr Kerry is currently a Principal of THG Resource Strategists and an independent member of the ACT Capital Metro Project Board which is overseeing planning for the delivery of a light rail network in Canberra. 
Appointed in March 2015, Mr Kerry brings to the role an extensive and visionary approach to major property and infrastructure development and a thorough and detailed understanding of essential commercial considerations when undertaking a development of this type and scale.

Morgan Parker

LLB

Mr Parker has a 20-year career history as a real estate developer, investor and banker at some of the world's leading firms, including Morgan Stanley, Macquarie Bank, Lend Lease, US-REIT Taubman Centers and the Rockefeller family-owned global private equity firm, Rose Rock. 
During his career, Mr Parker has completed 65 projects in nine countries representing over US$7 billion in investment. He currently consults to numerous corporations and sovereign funds across Asia and the Middle-East. Mr Parker is also Chief Operating Officer for Mall of the World, a unique concept of an all-season city district in Dubai.
Appointed in March 2015, Mr Parker brings to the role a dynamic, creative and focused approach to major property developments of the scale of the Maroochydore City Centre and extensive global experience in master-planned urban development, investment financing and marketing.

Don Boyd

BA, LLB

Mr Boyd retired in 2013 as Global Deputy Chief Executive and a member of the Executive Committee of Norton Rose Fulbright.  He continues as a consultant to Norton Rose Fulbright and is actively engaged in a range of other property and industry ventures
Mr Boyd is widely regarded as the architect of what was the first international legal practice merger in Australia to create Norton Rose Fulbright - a top 10 global legal practice by gross revenue, practice size, number of lawyers and geographical reach. 
He is currently Chairman of the Rohrig Group, a private construction company based in Sydney and Brisbane, Chairman of the Moore Stephens group of companies in Australia, a Director of Asia Society Pty Ltd and has been a long-term board member of an agribusiness group of companies. 
Appointed in March 2015, Mr Boyd brings to the role a comprehensive understanding of structuring commercial developments and a thorough and managed approach to complex organisational challenges.

Jude Munro AO

BA (Hons), FIPAA, FAICD, Grad Dip (Public Policy), Grad Dip (Business Administration)

Ms Munro has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in local government and as a chairperson and member of corporate boards and major public entities.
Ms Munro was Chief Executive Officer of Brisbane City Council for 10 years and the inaugural Chairperson of Queensland Urban Utilities. She is currently a Director of Uniting Care Queensland - one of Australia's largest non-government organisations – a Director of Newcastle Airport and a member of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the City of Geelong.
Ms Munro is widely respected across the political spectrum and regularly engaged to mentor Chief Executives, elected officials and senior executives. 
Appointed in March 2015, Ms Munro brings to the role a comprehensive understanding of contemporary corporate governance practices, managing stakeholder relations and infrastructure financing and delivery models.

Chief Executive Officer

John Knaggs

Chief Executive Officer

Mr John Knaggs is the Chief Executive Officer of SunCentral Maroochydore.  
Previously, Mr Knaggs was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council (2008 – 2015), guiding the Council and organisation in its establishment following the Queensland local government reform process of 2007/08 and overseeing an annual budget of $600 million and assets in excess of $5 billion.
Mr Knaggs is an experienced executive leader, major projects director and urban planner.
He has held roles as the Chief Executive Officer of Maroochy Council 2004-2008; Director Planning and Development at Maroochy Council (2002-2004) and the City of Knox (1999-2002); and projects coordinator City of Melbourne (1991-1999).
Mr Knaggs has an intimate knowledge to the commercial landscape of Maroochydore and the Sunshine Coast as well as a thorough understanding of the role commercial partnerships play in the design and delivery of successful urban centres and infrastructure.
